Historical Documents have been reviewed, tagged and saved in the Survivors’ Secretariat’s internal research database, each offering a window into the day-to-day existence and inner workings of the Mohawk Institute.

Know History has worked closely with the Survivors’ Secretariat since 2022 to collect and database approximately 25,000 historical documents that provide insight into the daily life and operations at the Mohawk Institute. Know History provides support services to the Survivors’ Secretariat, including conducting archival research on the Mohawk Institute and children who were forced to attend it, organizing information, and responding to specific research request from the Survivors’ Secretariat. We are very proud and honoured to undertake this work with the Survivors’ Secretariat, building on the work of survivors and generations of community members who have advocated for truth telling and sharing important histories.

Our work doesn’t stop here
