Know History is conducting archival research in support of the Yukon Residential Schools Missing Children Project. We developed a unique database with custom identifiers to house thousands of relevant historical documents from archives across the country. We are actively researching documents from Library and Archives Canada, Yukon Archives, Anglican General Synod Archives, and the NCTR to maintain a robust database that continues to evolve and progress with over 5,500 entries. Ongoing in-person engagement is vital for projects like the Yukon Residential Schools Missing Children Project. Our team has travelled to numerous communities throughout Yukon to meet with Survivors and community leaders to discuss the project, collect information and share findings.

In addition to our archival research endeavors, our commitment to the Yukon Residential Schools Missing Children Project includes a broader scope of activities. Know History is using archival documents and geographic information systems (GIS) to provide vital information to the ground search team to inform their search with GPR and other technologies to look for unmarked burials. Our team prepares research packages showing key areas for investigation, based on information found in archival documents.
